I think that more or less explains the mileage.. I think the biggest problem when comparing mileage figures arises when individuals with different driving routines(i.e mainly highway/ mainly city) and staying in different areas( metros/ smaller cities/ towns) start comparing with each other. @bhalchandra now that i know the details, I am not entirely surprised by the mileage..But if you were to bring your car down to Mumbai, expect the mileage to nose-dive to around 10-11, maybe even single digit figures. Half your time is spent idling, frequent gear shifts accelerate clutch wear. I think there is someone else in this thread who quoted a figure of 9-10 for a swift. Must be an unfortunate metrowalla like me. ![]() |

Well Buddy, the Hyundai top official said in TOi that if they are getting good/huge sales of i20, then they will immediately launch 1.4l Crdi here as its already being exported from India...

If you are ever going to come to Coimbatore, give me a call. I'll show what Swift is capable in the city. Or come lets put a trip to Ooty to know more of it. Drive a Swift before you speak about it. There can be better cars than Swift, but definitely not your Tata Vista. I could see more Swifts(be it petrol or diesel) in chennai than anywhere else I've been. If it is not so good in city, then what about chennai's traffic, is it very free like a highway??? |

@ Jb- I would nt agree on handling part. Yes Vista s handling has improved , but Swift still handles well. Well everyone has their personal opinion so nothing wrong with you feeling Vista is better than Swift.

I agree with you jbond830 and i think even FRG said that vista handles better than swift in his test of vista.
Here is the link http://www.autocarindia.com/new/autocar_forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2160&KW=indica+vista Now i think we should not get diverted from the topic and get back to i20 vs swift and not swift vs vista |

i STRONGLY AGREE WITH RISHI ON THIS POINT. THAT WE INDIANS DONT CHANGE OUR THINKING. ONCE PPL START SAYING SWIFT IS BETTER WE ALL SAY SWIFT IS BETTER. NO DOUBT MARUTI BRAND NAME HELPS US TO DO SO.
BUT I20 IS MUCH BETTER THAN SWIFT IN TERMS OF SPACE , FE & COMFORT.
IF WANA TO LEARN MORE GO TO THE SITE BELOW & READ THE EXPERT REVIEWS. WHICH SHOWS ITS FE @18.5KMPL ON HIGHWAY.
FOR MORE HEPL I WILL ADD SOME PICTURES OF I20 VERY SOON.
U WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO.
ITS OUR PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIER WHIC RESISTS US TO MOVE FURTHER.
HOPE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND OR EASILY COME TO KNOW REALITY AFTER READING REVIEWS.
Originally posted by rishi-del when we drive our car ..how many of us think that people who r driving some other car how much he wud b enjoying his little more powerful car...i hope none of us think so we only enjoy what we r driving whether 800 or BMW.....moreover how much is the differnce in power in i20 and swift..just 7 bhp..also swift egine has more than 10year old genes ...and 1.2 kappa is latest in the market ..so must b more refined ,technically superior and eco friendly...and remember SOON 1.3 SWIFT WILL B REPLACED BY 1.2 KB ENGINE FOR TAX BENEFITS ...SO ANY DAY I20 IS MUCH BETTER BUY NOW... WITH BETTER BUILD ,SUPERIOR QUALITY , MORE FEATURES , SMALL, BUT CAPABLE AND NEW ENGINE , BETTER LOOKS ,.....AND MUCH MORE SPACE (BOTH PASSENGER AND BOOT ) ALONG WITH HYUNDAI'S RELIABILITY AND RESALE VALUE AND GOOD AFTER SALE SERVICE. |

i20, though being good spacious features full packed car, just lacks in its engine department, hyundai yes have thought to give a n fuel efficient car, 1.2 kappa lacks that push on highways and also in city with full occupancy, if it gets 1.3/1.4 engine in both petrol and diesel, then its surely going to pick up its sales and wuld be hitting charts.

Originally posted by FuelRunGod ... Handling is a bit bulky with the front end feeling heavy.... Steering feels a little vague off centre which is just like the older car. The Vista just doesn’t seem to have that urgency in changing directions like the Swift. You won’t enjoy throwing this car around bends like the Swift, but you will like the straightline stability at high speeds. EDIT: Lets end this conversation, as this thread is about i20 vs Swift and not Vista vs. Swift as mentioned by members before. Edited by Crazy cat - 07 Feb 2009 at 7:14pm |

hello all. i don't know why we Indians never want to come across the psychological barrier that Mauti is best. no doubt they have Brand Image. but Koreans are not bad in technology too. the i10 1.2L or i20 1.2L engines are best examples of it.
i visited the hyundai showroom yesterday. & saw the feedback register signed by i10(108users) & i20 (18 users) about 81`% of them wrote milege 18KMPL(highway) & 15 to 16(city). if you compare swift with i10 & i20 both you will find the difference of design. both i10&i20 are more spacious inside. boot, space rear, comfort, easy shift of gears, &lot of modren features you will find much more in i10&i20 than in swift.
i compare swift 120magna(4.85Lakh) *& i10(sports)(4.22Lakh) & find them excellent over Swift VXI.
i m not saying take decision on my views. you can read on reviews given by a lot of experts by clicking the link below.
